The wait is nearly over for Hope residents looking forward to another season of Concerts in Park.
Summer promises to be another musical affair as nine bands and musicians are expected to play every Friday evening, from July to the end of August. From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. locals can head to Memorial Park to kick back and relax as a a wide range of musical talent performs for them. This year the two-month event kicks off with the groovy beats of Serengeti, an Afro soul and funk trio from Vancouver.
Describing themselves as a multicultural experience, the band features "a fusion of a wide range of influences from Marvin Gaye to Fela Kuti." The group formed in 2019 and has three members: lead vocalist Sadé Awele, bassist Katie Sly, and guitarist Amine Said. Together they create music that blends elements of funk, Latin, soul, R&B, and Afro beats, which they've showcased at a variety of street festivals in Vancouver
