The Vernon Vipers have made another roster move over the Christmas break, signing 18-year-old Nathaniel Harvey Thursday, Dec. 26.
“Nathaniel is a promising young player with more than 60 games of junior hockey under his belt,” said Vipers head coach Lukas Lomicky in a press release. “His biggest strengths are his speed, work ethic and the offensive upside he’s shown throughout his career.”
Harvey, a centre from La Malbaie, Que., has split his junior career between the Victoriaville Tigres and the Val-d’Or Foreurs in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He scored two goals and added two assists in 18 games with Val-d'Or this season.
“I’m thrilled to join the Vipers organization,” said Harvey. “I look forward to putting all I have for the benefit of the team. I can’t wait to get started in the great city of Vernon.”
Harvey is 5'10 and 185 pounds and shoots right.
The Vipers have kept busy during the Christmas break. On Monday the team traded forward Logan Peskett to the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for future considerations, and then signed forward Talan Blanck.
The Vipers haven't played since Dec. 13, when they beat the Bulldogs 7-4 at home. The team will return to action Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at home before playing the 'Backs on the road the following day, 4 p.m. Dec. 29.
