Pursuant to Sections 464, 465 and 466 of the Local Government Act, the Regional District ofNanaimo (RDN) advises of a public hearing regarding an Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment for “Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area ‘G’ Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 1540.07, 2025” (Bylaw 1540.07).

PURPOSE OF PROPOSED BYLAW
The general purpose of the proposed bylaw is to amend the Electoral Area G OCP land use designations that apply to the subject properties. The proposal is to redesignate a portion of Lot A from‘Institutional’ to ‘Parkland/Greenspace/Natural Area’ and a portion of Lee Road Community Park from ‘Parkland/Greenspace/Natural Area’ to ‘Institutional’. The proposed OCP amendment is being considered in conjunction with the French Creek Land Exchange Alternate Approval Process for the purpose of facilitating the construction of a new operator services building as part of the French Creek Pollution Control Centre expansion project.
HAVE YOUR SAY
All persons who consider their interest in property to be affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard in person or by written submission at the public hearing. Written submissions can also be provided in advance of the public hearing and must be received at the RDN Administration Office by 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to ensure their inclusion in the public record. Please do not include personal or confidential information about yourself or others in your written submission. Written submissions may be submitted by email to planning@rdn.bc.ca or by mail or in person to 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., V9T 6N2.
WHERE CAN I INSPECT THE DOCUMENTS?
A copy of the proposed bylaw and relevant documents may be inspected at the RDN Administration Office up until June 26, 2025. The office is located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding public holidays.
The public hearing for this bylawwill be chaired by Director Wallace, or her alternate, as a delegate of the Board.
