NOTICE OF FIRST READING
AMENDMENT BYLAW NO. 2500.08
Electoral Areas A, C, E, G and H
Pursuant to Section 464(3) and 467(2) of the Local Government Act, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) advises that a Public Hearing is not being held for proposed “Regional District of Nanaimo Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2500.08, 2025” (Bylaw 2500.08). A Public Hearing is not being held as Official Community Plans (OCP) apply to the electoral areas subject to Bylaw 2500.08 and the RDN Board considers Bylaw 2500.08 to be consistent with the applicable OCP’s.
Bylaw 2500.08 affects properties located in RDN Electoral Areas A, E, C, G and H that are subject to “Regional District of Nanaimo Zoning Bylaw No. 2500, 2024” (Bylaw 2500).
The RDN intends to consider first reading of Bylaw 2500.08 at its regular Board meeting:

PURPOSE OF PROPOSED BYLAW
In general terms, the purpose of the bylaw is to:
- Correct spelling and other administrative errors;
- Add additional clarity where needed;
- Specify that bridges, trail improvements, buildings that do not require a building permit, and wayfinding signage for parks and other publicly accessible facilities are not considered structures; and,
- Ensure Bylaw 2500 is consistent with “Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Amendment Bylaw No. 500.445, 2023” (Bylaw 500.445) related to coastal flood hazard management.
WHERE CAN I INSPECT THE BYLAW?
A copy of the proposed bylaw, the Board resolution to not hold a Public Hearing, and other relevant documents may be inspected at the RDN Administration Office. The office is located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding public holidays.
