Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen pays $12.4M in wages

Compensation for staff included $46,850 in overtime wages for emergency operations

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen paid more than $12.4 million in wages and expenses to its employees in 2024.

The figures are listed in the Statement of Financial Information, which was released in June.

This document is required by all local governments in the province by the end of June, and includes compensation for staff.

All wages came to $12,420,481, while expenses for staff were $166,255.

Those earning more than $75,000 have their compensation listed in the report. The 69 employees at that level received $7,005,085, while those with remuneration of less than $75,000 had compensation totalling $5,415,396.

The figures included $46,850 in overtime wages attributed to emergency operations. This overtime pay can be recovered from the province.

The highest-paid member of the municipal district staff was Jim Zaffino, chief administrative officer. His compensation was $251,735. He also had expenses of $7,072 in 2024.

The total remuneration for regional district staff is an increase from 2023, when total wages came to $11,094,931 and employee expenses came to $134,086.
