Staff at the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen were paid close to $10 million in 2022.
The amount, listed in the regional district’s Statement of Financial Information, showed remuneration of $9,942,455 and expenses of $90,106 in 2022.
The remuneration included overtime wages of $115,033, attributed to emergency operations.

The highest paid member of the regional district staff was Bill Newell, the regional district’s chief administrative officer. He received $192,118 in wages and claimed $3,453 in expenses in 2022.
Mark Woods, manager of community services, received $141,682, Anton Wolf, building official, was paid $141,264, Jim Zaffino, manager of finance, received $132,822 and Sean Vaisler, manager of emergency services, received $124,265
There were 50 regional district employees who received pay of more than $75,000 in 2022. Their combined compensation came to $4,826,347. The employees with compensation of less than $75,000 received a total of $5,116,198 in compensation last year.
The total remuneration in 2022 was higher than in 2021.
In 2021, wages came to $9,023,542 including $196,874 in overtime wages for emergency operations.
The Statement of Financial Information lists compensation and expenses for elected officials and staff, as well as payments to suppliers of goods and services in excess of $25,000. The document covers the 2022 calendar year and is required to be released to the public by the end of June.
