Range Day in Grand Forks highlights joy of shooting sports

Public welcomed to Granby Road range for family-friendly activities.

Grand Forks Wildlife Association opened its range on Granby Road to all for annual Range Day celebrations. The public was welcomed to free, supervised activities and shooting practices to show how much fun safe firearms and archery sports can be for all people. Stations for pistols, shotguns, archery and trap shooting were open for anyone to try, with supplied firearms, bows and arrows as association as range members helped people safely handle, aim and shoot.

This was also a time for the association to advertise for memberships, as well as encourage more people to take advantage of the practice ranges beyond using them once or twice a year to sight firearms. Range Day is a national initiative happening usually between June 1 and 14 by firearms and hunting clubs to show the positive side of firearms ownership as a counter to negative opinions and even some federal legislation, such as Bill C-21.
