GFSS Drama stages horrific good time with classic musical

Little Shop of Horrors brings laughs, screams and nostalgia.

Grand Forks Secondary School's Drama Club brought the classic horror-comedy Little Shop of Horrors to the high school's stage June 5 to 8, telling the tale of meek flower shop employee Seymour Krellborn and the strange plant he finds and brings to his workplace. Quickly becoming a local curiosity, the popularity of the plant, named Audrey II, grows as quickly as the plant itself, which Seymour has been secretly feeding his own blood. In short order, the plant starts demanding more, forcing poor Seymour to commit murder. All the while, he tries to romance fellow shop employee Audrey, navigate his sudden popularity and avalanche of lucrative offers as Audrey II becomes more famous. All this comes at a cost, as the plant slowly reveals its dark intentions, forcing a final confrontation between Seymour and the very thing that's made him a celebrity.
