Oak Bay is on the hunt for a new chief administrative officer.
Mayor Kevin Murdoch announced July 7 that the district’s current CAO, Selina Williams, plans to retire at the end of the month. She spent three years in the role.
“Council wishes to extend their appreciation for the years Ms. Williams has spent serving Oak Bay,” Murdoch said in a news release. “Selina brought a strong knowledge in governance to her roles and has navigated challenging periods that included the COVID-19 pandemic, a CAO transition, First Nations relationship-building, major projects, housing, and provincial government relations.”
The Oak Bay News reported in 2022 that Williams, who began as director of corporate services in 2020, came to Oak Bay with more than 19 years of local-government experience, having served as director of corporate services with Colwood and Gibsons, and as deputy corporate officer with Sunshine Coast Regional District.
The district said that it appreciates the contributions that Williams has made to the community and "wishes her the very best" in her future adventures.
"It has been an honour to serve council and this community," Williams said in the same news release. “It has also been a privilege to lead, and learn from, the extraordinary and dedicated professionals in Oak Bay. Success in my time here is a reflection of the leadership, passion, and commitment to continuous improvement within the whole team."
The search for Williams' replacement is underway with the help of an outside recruiter.
