Man stabbed during altercation in Abbotsford

Police say incident was targeted; victim taken to hospital

Police were in the area of McCallum Road and Cannon Avenue early Wednesday morning (July 2) after a man was stabbed.

A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-critical injuries early Wednesday morning (July 2) after he was stabbed in Abbotsford.

Sgt. Paul Walker, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department, said patrol officers responded to the 2300 block of McCallum Road at around 12:20 a.m.

The victim had been stabbed during an altercation that occurred nearby in the 33500 block of Cannon Avenue.

"Preliminary findings indicate that this was a targeted incident, with no ongoing threat to public safety," Walker said.

Detectives are asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of either scene from between 11:30 p.m. on July 1 and 1 a.m. on July 2 to contact the major crime unit at 604-859-5225.
