An Abbotsford man is recovering from his stab wounds after being assaulted by a random person while waiting for a bus on Tuesday evening (June 24).
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 6:14 p.m. in the 32700 block of South Fraser Way.
A 20-year-old man was standing at a bus stop when he was approached by someone and stabbed from behind, causing non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect immediately ran away from the scene, with the victim describing him as a man in his 40s, approximately six feet tall, with a slender build and brown hair. He was also wearing a black Nike T-shirt with the company's signature "Just Do It" slogan across the front, paired with some black pants and black shoes.
Sgt. Paul Walker explained that the Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation and is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.
"Early findings suggest that the suspect and victim were not known to each other," Walker said. "No arrests have been made, and the suspect has not yet been identified."
Anyone with information or dashcam footage that could be relevant to the investigation are asked to contact the police at 604-859-5225.
