A Chilliwack inclusion teacher was disciplined by the provincial regulator for "sharing inappropriate stories" with vulnerable students.

Robert Luke Acheson, who had been teaching in the Chilliwack School District, agreed to a one-day suspension and admitted the inappropriate comments made during the 2022-23 school year constituted professional misconduct, according to the B.C. Commissioner for Teacher Regulation.

The agreement cites "several occasions" where Acheson voiced comments about the personal appearance of students, as well as a staff member.

The teacher also shared an anecdote of a "traumatic personal incident" he suffered which included inappropriate content of a sexual nature, as well as a story about a high school girlfriend, which was also sexual in nature, according to the commissioner.

School district officials disciplined Acheson on June 16, 2023, sending him a letter stating he was suspended without pay for 15 days. He was instructed to take a professional boundaries course, which he subsequently completed, from the Justice Institute of B.C. in August 2023.

The commissioner ordered an investigation in August 2023 which resulted in the consent resolution agreement that Acheson and officials signed in June 2025.

Acheson admitted the facts of the agreement and that the comments constituted professional misconduct, and that he would not contradict the details of the agreement.

"Acheson failed to maintain appropriate professional boundaries in discussions with students by sharing inappropriate stories," the commissioner wrote in determining the consequences, adding the stories contained inappropriate sexual content, and comments about the appearance of students and staff.
