A 41-year-old Mission man was arrested twice in nine days after alleged vehicle thefts, including a DoorDash delivery vehicle.

Jesse Lee Grabinsky was charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle before he was released by the court with various conditions, according to a Mission RCMP news release.

Grabinsky was arrested again on June 7 and charged with further offences. Police say he remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

The first alleged theft occurred at roughly 7:30 p.m. on May 30 near Stave Lake Street and Dewdney Trunk Road. Per the release, a man attempted to steal a flagging truck a road crew was using.

“Witnesses reported that the suspect had arrived in a grey sedan before getting into the flagging truck.  After a worker intervened, the man ran off, but was located and arrested by police shortly afterwards,” Mission RCMP said.

Mounties said witnesses reported that a passenger in the grey sedan told them the car was his, but he left the scene before police were able to speak with him.

Meanwhile, police later received a report from someone who had recently witnessed a theft of a grey sedan from a DoorDash delivery driver in Mission.

“That person reported that the delivery driver got into the passenger seat of the vehicle while it was being taken.  The investigation into confirming whether these two events are linked, is ongoing,” the detachment said.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

According to the news release, police are looking to speak with the DoorDash delivery driver and have yet to locate him. RCMP say the delivery driver isn't a suspect.

On June 7, Grabinsky was arrested again in relation to the theft of a grey Nissan Rogue from Oak Lane near First Avenue and Welton Street. The car was found the same day in an alley between 4th and 5th Avenue.

Those with information are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
