WEATHER WATCH for Sunday, June 8, 2025:

Today's forecast is part of an "early season heat event" that prompted Environment Canada to issue a special weather statement Friday (June 6). On the Semiahmoo Peninsula, today's temperature is projected to reach 29 C inland. Residents are advised to watch for the effects of heat illness (in themselves and any vulnerable loved ones), including heavy sweating, rash, cramps and worsening of some health conditions.

Clancy’s Tea Cosy has served lunches and high teas for nearly 30 years.

2. Surrey council to vote on $6.5M contract for cycling lanes, pedestrian signals

If approved at Monday's meeting (June 9), work on some 1,250 metres of "protected cycling infrastructure" is expected to begin this month and be completed by December, according to a corporate report.

3. Teen arrested in stabbing of 14-year-old in Surrey

Surrey Police responded around 3 p.m. Thursday (June 5) to a report of a stabbing in the 13200-block of 70B Ave.

4. Surrey lawyer suspended after trying to evade impaired driving consequences

Manpreet Singh Bains has been suspended for a month in connection with a 2023 impaired-driving stop where he allegedly attempted to use his status as a lawyer to "avoid an immediate roadside prohibition."

5. Truck show returns to Cloverdale Fairgrounds in July

B.C. Vintage Truck Museum will host its annual National Truck Show on July 5, with highlights to include an old milk truck.
