The Storehouse Inaugural Golf Classic is set for Sept. 17. All proceeds from the charity golf tourney will go to support the expansion of the Storehouse Regional Foodbank.

A new golf tournament is teeing off this September to support a growing need in the community.

Cloverdale’s Storehouse Community Hub Society is holding a golf tourney fundraiser with all proceeds going to support the needy.

“We are excited to announce the Storehouse Inaugural Golf Classic,” said Courtney van den Boogaard, director of marketing for Storehouse.

Storehouse is the new name of the rebranded Cloverdale Community Kitchen. Storehouse now oversees the Cloverdale Community Kitchen, Storehouse Regional Foodbank (also renamed from Fraser Valley Regional Food Bank), Cloverdale Christmas Hampers, Storehouse Mobile Meals, Storehouse Outreach (new), and Storehouse Clothing Cupboard (new).

The charity golf tournament will be held Sept. 17 at Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club.

According to van den Boogaard, all proceeds from the tournament will go to fund Storehouse’s food bank expansion project.

“Currently, we serve over 1,000 families every month, but more than 250 families remain on our waitlist,” she explained.

With much-needed funds raised through the tournament, van den Boogaard said Storehouse will be able to expand its capacity and move families off the waitlist and onto the service list.

She said there are four ways people can help: 1.) by signing up to play golf on Sept. 17—as part of a team or as an individual, 2.) by signing on to be a sponsor, 3.) by donating a prize for their silent auction, or 4.) by donating swag for player gift bags.

She added early bird pricing is on until July 31.

To register for the golf, to become a sponsor, or for more info, visit mycck.ca, or call or email Frankie Allen via frankie@storehousesociety.ca, or 778-617-3000, ext. 213.

The Storehouse Inaugural Golf Classic will be held Sept. 17 at Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club. Hazelmere is located at 18150 8th Avenue.
