Savona’s Amelia Jones has had successful results in her waterskiing competitions this past summer.
Amelia is 17 years old, and has been a member of the BC Waterski Team for the past three years. This summer she medalled at both the BC Summer Games and the BC Waterski Provincials.
The BC Summer Games were held in Maple Ridge from July 17–21. Towed Water Sports events were held at Albert Dyck Memorial Park in Abbotsford, where Amelia represented Zone 2 (Thompson-Okanagan) in the U17 Girls events.
Amelia competed in two divisions: Slalom and Tricks. She placed first in her Slalom division, and in third place in her Tricks division, contributing to Zone 2’s medal count at the Summer Games.
She then competed at the BC Waterski Provincials, which were held from July 26–28 at Shumway Lake south of Kamloops. Amelia competed in the U17 Girls Slalom and Trick divisions, where she placed first in Trick and second in Slalom.
Amelia’s mother, Cristina, also competed at the Provincials. She was in the 45–55 years Women’s Slalom division, where she was on the podium after placing second.
Congratulations to both Amelia and Cristina!
