The upcoming “Bach to Bach” baroque music concert at St. Alban’s Anglican Church is not to be missed!
A whole lot more than music will be happening on Saturday, May 24, as the participants in the concert will be acting as certain historical figures from the 18th century European musical scene. Ivan Vutev will be acting as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, singing and playing viola da gamba. His father Leopold, a famous violin teacher and composer, will be played by violinist Cvetozar Vutev.
Curtis Howell, playing the harpsichord and organ, will be acting as composer Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, one of J. S. Bach's sons and known as "The Berliner Bach." Curtis’s daughter, soprano Anika Howell, will be acting and singing as C. P. E. Bach's daughter, Anna Carolina Philippina Bach.
In this presentation, these four characters are planning to take a concert tour to Canada in 1779, performing music by Bach family members and friends. All four musicians are part of the Chamber Musicians of Kamloops, and what a joy it will be as we appreciate seasoned musicians and encourage their very talented daughter and son in their budding music careers.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. on May 24, and tickets are $20 (adults) and $10 (students aged 12 to 18); children under 12 are free. Reserve or purchase your tickets early by emailing alice@durksen.ca or calling (250) 457-3227.
