Most people living in Fraser Valley Regional District communities know that they're living in bear country.
WildSafeBC Fraser Valley has been out tagging waste bins in the FVRD as a "friendly reminder" for folks not to put them out too early.
"Hey Fraser Valley Regional District! Have you noticed a bin tag sticker like this on your bins recently?" according to the message posted July 9.
The tags do not mean residents are being fined but they are trying to keep bears and other wildlife from becoming human habituated from munching on garbage.
"These stickers are just a friendly reminder to help manage these attractants.
"We are not bylaw officers and will not fine you.
"We just want to help keep wildlife wild and the community safe."
