Savona's Katie Kayler has another successful motocross season

Kayler earned a national placement as the third best rider in the THOR WMX Class

Savona’s Kaylie Kayer has had another exciting and successful motocross season, competing in events across Canada and earning herself a high national ranking.

Kayer, 20, participated in both the Western and Eastern Triple Crown Series in the THOR WMX Class in 2024, and has had her most consistent year, getting on to the podium every weekend. The Canadian National Triple Crown Series is the premier motocross competition in Canada, bringing together the best riders from across the country to compete in races that test their skill, speed, and endurance.

She first stood on the podium in Calgary in early June, after placing third in Round 1 of the Western Series. She then travelled to Lethbridge the following weekend for Rounds 2 and 3, where she placed third in both rounds.

Round 4 of the Western series took Kayer to Pilot Mound, Manitoba, where she again finished in third. Her consistent efforts earned her third place overall in the Canadian Western Triple Crown WMX.

Kayer then headed east to compete in the Eastern Triple Crown Series, travelling to Gopher Dunes and Ottawa (Ontario), Moncton, New Brunswick, and Deschambault, Quebec. She rode hard and placed third in each of the Ontario races, and second in Moncton.

The track in Deschambault was a difficult one, but she placed sixth, and her overall standing for the Eastern series earned her the third place trophy. Her hard work and riding also earned her a national placement as the third best rider in the THOR WMX Class.

Kayer says that her father got her her first bike when she was three years old. She did a few off-road races when she was younger, and first tried her hand at motocross in 2016. She says that her biggest accomplishment so far has been finishing third in the Western WMX series three years in a row now, and advises any girl or woman who wants to start riding to “Never give up and always have fun.”
