VIDEO: RCMP on scene at barn blaze in North Langley

Fire was consuming barn as of 1 p.m.

Firefighters and RCMP officers were on scene at a major blaze in North Langley in the early afternoon of Friday, June 6.

The fire was in a metal-clad barn in the 20500 block of 102A Avenue, in a rural area north of Walnut Grove.

RCMP officers armed with rifles were around the site.

According to Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, RCMP were called to the property, and discovered the barn fire when they arrived.

"Multiple police resources are currently on scene, working in coordination with the Township of Langley Fire Department," said Sharoom. "We are in the very early stages of this investigation, and as such, a significant police presence will remain in the area."

He asked people to avoid the area while the incident was underway.

102B Avenue is a largely rural road that connects 200 and 208 Streets.
