BC Transit announced service increases in the new year for Route 1 and 2 in Abbotsford.

A couple of key Abbotsford bus routes will soon be able to carry even more commuters as BC Transit recently announced new upcoming expansions in service.

One of the routes that will be affected by this new announcement is Route 1, which begins at Highstreet Shopping Centre and passes by major landmarks like the Abbotsford City Hall and Mill Lake before eventually finishing at the University of the Fraser Valley.

Route 2 will also have its own improvements as well, with this bus route following a similar path from Highstreet Shopping Centre and culminating at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.

According to BC Transit, additional service will be added to both of these routes during weekday morning and evening peak periods starting on Jan. 5.

These improvements were paid for through a combination of municipal and provincial funding.
