Residents of Jackson House in Ashcroft were treated to a doggone fun afternoon on Sept. 26, when an assortment of dogs of all sizes, as well as their humans and some spectators, arrived for the annual dog show in the Oasis Garden.
There was a cool breeze, but no one seemed to mind as the dogs — some of whom were in costume — were put through their paces. They demonstrated their agility on a miniature obstacle course, although more than one competitor took time to stop and smell the flowers along the way. Some of them also performed tricks, and their humans answered questions about their canine companions.
Judges Robin, Leroy, and Bobby-Joe, with assistance from staff members Fritzie and Marlene, compared notes and handed out prizes. All the dogs seemed thrilled with their toys and treats, and if they could talk they would have been heard saying "Can't wait to come back next year and do this again!"
