There were plenty of accomplishments for Peachland council and residents to be proud of over the last year.
The district’s 2024 Annual Report outlines several projects that have been started or completed.
Peachland received $12.2 million through ChildCareBC’s New Spaces Fund to build a 104-space child care centre next to Peachland Elementary. The Okanagan Boys and Girls Club will operate the centre.
The newly constructed Peachland–West Kelowna Multi-use Pathway had its grand opening on June 20. The 2.7-kilometre pathway offers cyclists and pedestrians a safe, off-highway route from downtown Peachland to the entrance of Goat’s Peak Regional Park in West Kelowna.
Turner Park upgrades began in September, including a new accessible playground, picnic areas, washrooms, and improved parking. A competitive soccer field will open in June. Peachland Elementary students helped select the playground design.
The district purchased a 1.3-hectare property at 5180 Trepanier Bench Road for $1.5 million to expand park space and trail access.
Upgrades to Sanderson Dog Park included new fencing, signage, an outhouse, and a water station, funded by a $100,000 Growing Communities Fund grant.
The historic Peachland Museum is being renovated into a tourist info centre, supported by $600,000 in provincial funding and $167,000 from the District.
