Branden and Nicole Fay rarely play the lottery, but the took a chance during a stop at a Central Alberta gas station.
They purchased a LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket that bagged them a $100,020 EXTRA prize. The Caroline couple said they were in disbelief when they saw the amount they had won.
"Branden left for work and I opened the cupboard and saw that we had forgotten to check this ticket, so I did it,” Nicole Fay recalled.
“I used some pretty choice words, and then I called Branden.”
Branden Fay added: “I was in a meeting and saw that I had 15 missed calls. ... My heart was racing—thinking something had happened at home.”
The duo said they aren't sure what they'll do with their winnings.
“It will just go into savings for now," Nicole Fay added.
The Fays purchased their winning LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket from Eckville Gas and Snacks at 5008 48 St. in Eckville. They won their prize by matching the last six digits in the May 9 EXTRA draw: 2941777.
“It doesn’t feel real,” Branden Fay said.
“I think we are still in a bit of shock.”
