The 135th edition of the Ashcroft and District Fall Fair is in the books.
The fair was first held in Ashcroft in 1889, and on Sept. 8, 2024 hundreds of fair-goers followed in the footsteps of those who had come before.
Members of the Ashcroft 4-H Club were on hand with livestock and fowl, and the Golden Spike Can-can dancers delighted the crowd with their high-energy displays. Kids of all ages took part in some old-fashioned games (corn-shucking, nail-hammering, and a tug-of-war), and young racers put their high-velocity veggies to the test in the zucchini races.
There were vendors galore, inflatable games, a balloon artist, and face-painting. The Ashcroft and District Lions Club's concession served up hot dogs and hamburgers, and hundreds of entries were on display.
One dad, whose delighted youngsters clutched their intricate balloon creations, summed up the fair in three words: "This is awesome!"
