100 Mile House RCMP assisted in the locating of a missing person as part of their response to 98 calls for service between June 11 and June 18, according to Sgt. Brian Lamb.
The incident related to the missing person is said to have occurred on June 17. The RCMP was advised of a missing person from a residence in the Canim Lake area. Concerned friends and family had subsequently located the person's vehicle on a forest service road to the northeast of Canim Lake, said Lamb.
RCMP had requested the assistance of Search and Rescue, RCMP Air Services as well as an RCMP Services dog. The RCMP says that "prior to the arrival of these resources, the person was found by friends and family in the area of the vehicle unharmed." The RCMP is thanking the volunteers at search and rescue as well as the people involved.
Vehicle collisions
The RCMP says that two collisions occurred on June 11 and June 13 respectively. The first collision involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Birch Avenue.
Lamb said that police attended and observed: "a pickup truck which had damage to its side as well as a motorcycle that had damage." It was determined that the operator of the motorcycle had failed to stop at the stop sign at a four-way intersection which had led to it colliding with the pickup, which had the right of way and was travelling through the intersection. RCMP said the driver of the motorcycle received injuries that were believed to be minor and was taken to the hospital.
The other collision took place on Highway 24 near Holmes Road and involved an SUV and a pickup truck. RCMP said that police had attended with EHS and local fire departments, who had already been on scene.
Lamb said that "it was determined an SUV had turned onto Highway 24 from Holmes Road and failed to yield to an oncoming pickup truck travelling on Highway 24 which resulted in a collision." The driver of the SUV had suffered injuries that were believed to be minor and was subsequently taken to hospital.
RCMP receive reports of mischief
Two reports of mischief are said to have occurred on June 8 and June 17 respectively. The June 8 incident was reported June 11 when RCMP "received a report of mischief to a business located on Lakes Boulevard in Roe Lake," said Lamb. On that day, a male had allegedly used a coin machine car wash and had caused damage to the equipment while inside the wash bay.
Lamb said the male was captured on surveillance and is described as a Caucasian, balding with a ponytail, goatee and wearing glasses. The vehicle associated with him is described as a newer model black GMC 1500 with a canopy.
The June 17 incident, meanwhile, occurred when a mailbox lock was tampered with on Odian Road in 105 Mile House. Lamb said the mailbox was not open and RCMP do not know when the tampering occurred.
Impaired driver apprehended
Lastly, the RCMP says they responded to an incident involving impaired driving on June 14.
On that day, Lamb said that the BC Highway Patrol was conducting a patrol on Highway 97 near Horse Lake Road where a pickup truck was observed proceeding through a red light at the intersection. The vehicle was stopped and the driver had "displayed symptoms of alcohol consumption," Lamb said.
Officers issued a breath demand for alcohol testing, but the driver refused. Lamb said even when the driver was provided with another opportunity to comply and told the penalty for refusal was the same as impaired driving, the driver still refused.
Subsequently, Lamb said officers issued an immediate roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days, with the vehicle being impounded for 30 days, as well as violation tickets issued for failing to stop at a red light and having open liquor in a motor vehicle.
