A couple weeks ago, several Kelowna business, as well as companies from Kamloops and Oliver were honoured at the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC's Safety Pinnacles Award Gala.
At the June 12 event, more than 30 companies from across the province, as well as several business leaders were in attendance to celebrate workplace safety.
The Safety Pinnacle Award recipients was a sweep as companies from across the Okanagan won the four awards:
- Kettle River Brewing Ltd (Kelowna) – Emerald Pinnacle Award recipient
- Moly-Cop Canada (Kamloops) – Sapphire & Emerald Pinnacle Awards recipient
- OK Vinyl Products (Oliver) – Topaz & Sapphire Pinnacle Awards recipient
- Pacific Powertech Inc (Kelowna) – Topaz & Sapphire Pinnacle Awards recipient
Mark Burleigh, the president of Northside Industries Inc. in Kelowna won the Soaring Eagle Leadership Award in the Safety Excellence Award winners and honourees. That award is given to an individual who shows leadership and commitment to workplace safety.
Additionally, for the Apex Award, Jessee Regnier of Westbank's Freeport Industries and Sandra Tanemura of Kelowna's Peller Estates were both finalists.
