GALLERY: Williams Lake Indoor Classic Spring Rodeo Day 2

Many contenders will return Sunday for the final day beginning at 1 p.m.

In front of a sold-out crowd, rodeo athletes and animals put on a good show Saturday, April 19 at the Indoor Spring Classic Rodeo in Williams Lake. 

While there were no qualifiers in the bull riding, some junior steer riders made their mark. 

Jonas Frizzi of Chetwynd rode his way to the top of leader board with a 73 score. Colby Ignace of Savona nabbed 69, while Draydon Lee of Quesnel got 68, Ben Zirnhelt of Williams Lake got 64 and Ethan Marshall of Alkali Lake scored 59. 

Other highlights included Casey Thompson of Clinton in bareback riding satisfying the judges to the tune of 80, followed by Chase Siemens of Chetwynd with 77 and Christoph Muigg of Hazelton with 71. 

Sarah Gerard topped the open barrels, achieving 12.044 in her time, with Dena Millard close behind with 12.139 and Williams Lake's own Lori Rankin with 12.764.

In Junior Barrels Claire Cail had a time of 13.294, followed by Minke Englebrecht at 14.431 and Grace Porter with 15.574.

Cutest in the arena were the peewee barrels with Rayna Peterson scoring 15.373, followed by Remee Twan with 15.454 and Piper Twan with 17.072. 

Jaret Cooper of Armstrong got the only score in the saddle bronc with a 72. 

Many of the contenders will return Sunday, April 20 to compete again for the top prizes. 

The rodeo starts at 1 p.m. There is a children's Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. until noon in the smaller arena, entry is free. 

The BC Cowboy Hall of Fame inductees will also be honoured during the rodeo.
