The Clinton Seniors Association annual Yard Sale/ Book and Bake Sale was a great success in spite of a slow start to the day due to the weather. Thank you to everyone who worked that day and a special thank you to everyone who supported this effort. Wayne Marchant won the Peel ‘n’ Pay Raffle prize and Dennis Burgo won the Cookie Jar Guessing Game. Congratulations!
Before Fall arrives and days get full again here are some thoughts for August:
To manage stress, improve your mood and stay as healthy as possible.
Avoid putting things off. Make a weekly list that includes activities you enjoy as well as the things you need to do.
Take part in fun, physical activities.
Join a social group in the community.
Take time out for yourself.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Even the weather isn’t all that bad.
There were many activities and social events in July to keep seniors busy and happy - Communities in Bloom, Marslife project, family reunions and parties and much more.
There are some lovely yards in Clinton this year. Colourful hanging baskets and planters of beautiful blooms add so much to the ambience of the village. Successful vegetable gardens are flourishing as well.
How to Plant Your Garden:
For the garden of your daily living, plant 3 rows of peas:
Peace of mind, peace of heart, and peace of soul.
Plant 4 rows of squash:
Squash gossip, squash indifference, squash grumbling and squash selfishness.
Plant 4 rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful, lettuce be kind, lettuce be patient and lettuce really love one another.
No garden is complete without Turnips:
Turnip for meetings, turnip for service, and turnip to support one another.
To complete the planting, we must have Thyme:
Thyme for each other, thyme for family and thyme for friends.
Water freely with patience and cultivate with love. There can be much produce in your garden because you reap what you sow.
