22 teams hit the links in Ladysmith golf tourney

Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce put on event

There were a lot of good drives and putts at the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce's golf tournament last week.

The annual event, held at Cottonwood Golf Course, was full up with 22 teams hitting the links at 1 p.m.

“The enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by all participants truly made for a dynamic and enjoyable day on the course,” said Roberta Bowman, executive director of the Ladysmith Chamber.

Besides an afternoon of golfing participants also had many opportunities to enter specific contests. The local A&W restaurant generously provided the hole in one prize which was a classic 1965 Falcon.

“That generated a great deal of excitement,” said Bowman. “Our title sponsor, the Ladysmith and District Credit Union, set up a popular marshmallow driving game at their sponsored hole, adding a playful and interactive twist.”

The TeeBox golfing simulator in Duncan offered complimentary rounds of simulated golf, giving players a chance to test their swing off the course.

“The Mactier Group brought a high-energy presence to the putting contest, keeping players engaged and entertained," Bowman said. "Congratulations to Jason Kelland, who emerged as the contest winner.”

Following the tournament the golfers were treated to a meal provided by the chef at Cottonwood Golf Course and prizes were awarded for a variety of accomplishments. The winning team consisted of Doug Carr, Izak Brussow, Greg Renton and John Stall; the most honest team was the Island Savings Credit Union team; the men's longest drive was captured by Stefan Crucil; the ladies longest drive trophy went to Michelle Sutcliffe and the men's closest to the pin trophy was won by Tyson Robertson.

“While final numbers are still being tallied, we are pleased to report that the tournament generated meaningful funds that will go directly back into supporting the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce," Bowman said. "These funds help us continue delivering valuable services to our members, including advocacy, business development initiatives, promotional events, and community partnerships.

“The Chamber extends sincere thanks to all of our sponsors, volunteers, and participating teams. The support and energy made the day not only successful but truly memorable. From the warm hospitality on the course to the delicious food and the camaraderie among players, this event showcased the best of our business community and highlighted the power of coming together in support of local initiatives. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.”
