Another chance for girls all across the Okanagan to learn basketball skills from the best, is coming in late August.
Vernon native Cassandra Brown is running her second official CB Elite All Girls Basketball Camp, August 26-30 at Vernon Christian School.
"I’m so excited for my camp," Brown said. "It brings me a lot of joy and my goal is to show local youth basketball players that if I can do it, they can do it too.”
The 32-year-old recently finished up a year competing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) in Australia, with the Townsville Fire. Since March, Brown has been travelling with the Canadian 3x3 National Team, as a rostered member.
Brown explained that she was still very new to the 3x3 game, but was "just trying to be a sponge, soak up as much knowledge as I can."
The Fulton Secondary graduate was an alternate on the 3x3 team that booked their place to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
"I am honestly just really proud and honoured to be alongside these women," said Brown. "They have built this program from the ground up and it’s great to see all of their hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance pay off."
The three-day camp will be available for girls in Grades 4-8, from Aug 26-28. A shooting clinic for girls in Grades 9-12, will take place on Friday, Aug. 30 from noon- 3 p.m. All skill levels are welcome.
