Staley, Stewart succeed in Scramble at Alberni Golf Course

Men's Golf takes break for pair of West Coast Amateur competitions

The Alberni Golf Club is located on Cherry Creek Road in Port Alberni, B.C.

The Two-man Scramble held Sunday, June 1 drew an excellent turnout as 56 men participated.

Many thanks go out to RLR Lawyers (Ramsay Lampman Rhodes) for their continued support.

In the gross division, the duo of Scott Staley and Ted Stewart led the way coming in with 61, followed by Josh Harvey and Blake Frechette with 66. Colton Buffie and Justin Sketsch had 68, Chase Shiner and Dan Shiner 69, Kash Nicklin and Brandt Moretto 69 then Chad Wutke and Brooks Lehtonen 70.

On the net side first place goes to Hank Krahn and Bryce Dabb with 61.15, Joe Henri and Peter Mugleston 63.55, Terry Rai and James Weening 63.7, Terry Argotow and Sam Parhar, 63.7, Cody Breuker and Darcy Haggard 63.85. The final prize went to the twosome of Bill Barrett and Darren VanDyk with 64.15. All ties were settled by retrogression.

The closest to the pin winners were Bruce MacDonald on No. 2, Bob Matlock on No. 4, Keith Ellwood on No. 13 and Darrell Vanos on No. 17.  The Charity Closest to the pin on No. 7 goes to Chase Shiner, who collects $84.

COMING UP: This coming weekend June 14–15 is the West Coast Amateur Tournament. Be sure to get your entry in soon as the draw is filling up fast.

The following Sunday, June 22 is the Ladies West Coast Amateur, therefore the next men's club event will be on Sunday, June 29. More about that later!
