The Oceanside Special Olympics Slo-Pitch team had fun playing against the Parksville Fire Department, who dropped by their practice session at the Parksville Community Park recently.

The Oceanside Special Olympics slo-pitch team got a big surprise when members of the Parksville Fire Department dropped by during their recent practice session at the Parksville Community Park.

Fire chief Marc Norris and his crew brought out their mitts and played a friendly game against the Special Olympians, who were thrilled to have them.

The Special Olympics team is getting ready for some upcoming games. On June 16, the 26 athletes in the team will be split into two teams and play a game starting at 4 p.m.

Then on June 23, the fifth annual clash between Special Olympics Oceanside and PGOSA All-Stars teams will take place at the Parksville Community Park near the lacrosse box. There will be two mini-games scheduled with opening ceremonies to start at 3:30 p.m.
