Nine new members were welcomed to the Ashcroft and District Lions Club on January 30.

On January 25, the Ashcroft and District Lions Club inducted nine new members. Lisa Dafoe, Mike Shepherd, Teri Lynn Allison, Marcie Down, and Linda Chatten were sponsored by Lion Kat Chatten; Patty McKenzie was sponsored by Lion Darlene Daily; Clayton Cassidy was sponsored by Lion Sue Peters; Bert Aggiss was sponsored by Lion Marina Aggiss; and Joe Weremchuk was sponsored by Lion Orval Trueman.

Zone chair Morley Brown, assisted by past zone chairs Geoff Davis and Howard Swaren, performed the induction ceremony. Meryha Phillips was supposed to be a part of this record number of new inductees, but was not able to be present due to illness. She will be inducted at the February meeting.

The club is now up to 20 members, and would like to see even more people join. Secretary-treasurer Vivian Edwards says that the group has a lot of fun while raising money to help in our communities, and that being a part of Lions International, and all the help they give around the world, is very satisfying. Anyone interested in attending a meeting and getting to know more about the club and what it does should call membership chair Sue Peters at (250) 457-0068.
