BC United’s plan for tax reform

Jackie Tegart

Life in our community, like in many parts of British Columbia, has become increasingly challenging due to rising costs. Everyday tasks, such as a simple trip to the grocery store, now come with a higher price tag than we could have ever anticipated.

The current level of taxation has become unsustainable, and many residents are feeling the financial strain.

This is why Kevin Falcon and the BC United team have put forward a common-sense tax reform policy designed to alleviate the burden of daily living expenses.

As part of our plan, we propose the immediate removal of the provincial fuel tax, which could save local drivers up to 15 cents per litre on gasoline and diesel. Imagine saving around $30 each time you fill up your truck, or nearly $20 for a minivan. This policy could significantly benefit people in our community, especially when public transit options are limited.

Furthermore, BC United intends to eliminate the carbon tax for on-farm fuel use throughout the province.

This is a critical step that will help our hardworking farmers and ranchers, who have been grappling with minimal support for too long.

Lowering the cost of production will lead to more affordable food prices, making it easier for our residents to put food on their tables without straining their budgets.

We also commit to removing the carbon tax on home heating, acknowledging that this is a basic necessity.

Finally, we are committed to ending the government’s consistent carbon tax hikes and freezing it at the current rate. Residents should not have to endure continual price increases in the years ahead.

A BC United government is dedicated to utilizing every available means to reduce costs and put money back into your pockets, ensuring a more affordable future.
