LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Sell U.S. wine until stock runs out

Letter writer criticizes provincial government's approach to fighting back against U.S. tariffs

The B.C. government shouldn’t have pulled U.S. wine from liquor store shelves, it should have sold its stock of U.S. wine and not re-ordered, says letter writer. (Stock photo)

To the editor,

Every B.C. Liquor Store and distribution centre has a inventory of U.S. wines. Once U.S. tariffs were introduced, our provincial government removed U.S. wines from the store shelves. This proves that the NDP knows nothing about how a business operates. What should have been done would be to sell off all of this inventory to recover the money that has already been paid for this U.S. wine. Then and only then, no more U.S. wine will be ordered.

Regardless of the government saying do not buy U.S. products, it is not going to stop people buying U.S. wines. People who drink U.S. wines are still going to buy the wine.

In summary, this inventory of wines should be sold off and no more wine ordered until the tariffs are removed. Recover the taxpayer dollars.

Just everyday reality and commonsense, something our government knows absolutely nothing about. So sad. Unbelievable!
