The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a spot fire in the Esler gravel pit area just outside Williams Lake.
Discovered Wednesday morning (July 12) at around 9 a.m., an initial attack crew now has the fire under control.
BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is working to address fires as they continue to pop up after recent lighting in the area.
Smoke in the air is impacting some response efforts as this can hamper the ability to use aircraft to support ground crews fighting wildfires.
Another wildfire southwest of Williams Lake between Springhouse and Chimney Valley discovered on July 11 is being held after BCWS crews and local contract crews were able to work the fire with the support of air tankers after smoke in the area cleared yesterday as winds shifted.

If outside of cell service, try to record coordinates, description of what types of fuel the fire is burning in and how far it is from values such as homes and properties then report once you return to service or the nearest landline.
