Ashcroft RCMP responded to 19 calls for service during the period January 27 to February 2.
Vehicle rollover
On January 28, Ashcroft RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on Highway 97 in the Maiden Creek area. The driver of the vehicle, which was a newer Ford F150, had lost control of his vehicle due to the poor road conditions while traveling southbound. The driver was not injured in the collision, but the vehicle was destroyed.
Vehicle collision
Also on January 28, Ashcroft RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97, again in the Maiden Creek area. The collision was the result of both vehicles attempting to stop to avoid a previous motor vehicle collision. However, due to the poor road conditions, the driver of a Hyundai sedan was rear-ended by a Dodge pickup truck. The driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital for further examination. Neither vehicle was in drivable condition, and both had to be towed.
Other calls for service included traffic-related offences observed by other drivers and reported; assistance provided by the police to persons under the Mental Health Act; and reports of suspicious persons or activity.
