A barrier-free camp near Summerland has unveiled a board to recognize its donors.
Agur Lake Camp, 15 kilometres west of Summerland, has three accessible cabins, paved trails and a floating fishing dock. The camp attracts more than 600 visitors each year from across Western Canada.
The idea of the camp began in 1974, when Bonnar Dowler envisioned a place where people of all ages with various abilities could escape from the bustle of regular life.
On Aug. 7, the camp held a donor appreciation lunch and unveiled its new donor recognition board.
The display board recognizes everyone who has played a role in constructing, creating and contributing to the camp.
Organizers say the board recognizes the hard work and dedication of all those who have made valuable contributions to this project, and have been essential in turning the camp from a dream into a reality.
