The Vernon Vipers voted for a win Saturday.
The Snakes kicked off a four-game BC Hockey League road trip Saturday, Oct. 19 – Election Day in the province – with an impressive 5-2 win over the red-hot Bucks in Cranbrook before 1,892 fans at Western Financial Place.
The loss snapped the Bucks' five-game winning streak.
Rasmus Svartstrom opened the scoring for the home team with the only goal of the first period.
Vernon responded with a three-pack in the middle frame.
Shea Busch tied the game with his seventh of the season five minutes into the period. Luke Bibby put the Vipers ahead two minutes later with his second of the year, and Landon MacDonald's second of the season at 13:19 turned out to be the game winner.
Svartstrom brought the Bucks back to within a goal at 16:02 of the third period before empty-net markers from Charlie Kresl (second) and Erik Pastro (third) put the game away for Vernon.
Vipers goalie Colin Reay was named the game's first star for his 28-save performance. Jaden Cholette made 22 saves for the Bucks (8-2).
Vernon (3-6-1) continues its road swing with game in Alberta Sunday against the Oilers (3-8) in Okotoks.
Cranbrook returns to action Friday, Oct. 25, when they host the Oilers.
