The Nanaimo Clippers, one of the BCHL's hottest teams of late, won two more this past weekend.

The Clippers (20-18-2) shut out the Victoria Grizzlies by a 5-0 score on Friday, Feb. 7, down the Malahat, and then got past the Langley Rivermen 6-5 in overtime on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Frank Crane Arena. Nanaimo has won six in a row.

In the shutout, Clippers goalie Chazz Nixon stopped all 42 shots he faced and got plenty of offensive support with five different players lighting the lamp. The next night, Luke Lavery scored twice, Dylan Kinch had a goal and two assists and Connor DeTurris scored the game-winning goal with one minute left in the first OT frame. Vladimir Nikitin was the winning goalie.

GAME ON … The Clippers have home games Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15, hosting the Powell River Kings and then the Prince George Spruce Kings. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. both nights. For ticket information, visit www.nanaimoclippers.com.
