Foundry fighter from Cowichan earns double jiu-jitsu gold

Pearce won not just her weight class but the open weight class as well,

Lake Cowichan product Brandi Pearce has won double-gold at the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation's 2025 Master International Jiu-Jitsu Championship - North America tournament in Long Beach, California May 28.

Competing in the brown belt division, Pearce won not just her weight class but the open weight class as well, claiming double gold.

"This gave me enough points to be ranked No. 1 overall in the Masters 1 division for brown belt," Pearce said.

The Duncan resident gives a lot of credit to her training partners in at Foundry Combat Sports Duncan, — which she and her husband Ron own — for helping to prepare her for the event, particularly Talia Anderson, Sarah Kaufman, and Ayla Jazzmin for the competition rounds.

Sarah is an ex-UFC fighter from Victoria and she helped me before leaving, as well as Talia Anderson, also from Victoria, and Ayla's from Cobble Hill," Pearce explained. She'll be relying on them to also help her to prepare for her next big competition as well.

"I am looking to do Master Worlds again in August in Las Vegas to hopefully win the same title as I did last year," she said. "I am also looking for sponsors to help me get there!"

Last year Pearce went undefeated at the IBJJF World Masters Championships to win the the Masters 1 light-feather brown belt division.
