Young mother identified by family, friends as victim of Penticton shooting

Alexa Knodel was identified as the victim of the fatal June 6 shooting in Penticton. A fundraiser has since been set up for her family.

A 21-year-old mother has been identified by friends and family as the victim of the fatal June 6 shooting in Penticton. 

Alexa Knodel was a member of the local gymnastics club for over 10 years, as well as a coach according to a tribute posted by Springers Gymnastics Adventures. 

"We lost a special part of our Springers family," the post reads. "Alexa was such a kind person and was loved by everyone."

A fundraiser has also been set up through GoFundMe under Help Alexa's Family. As of June 10, almost $9,000 has been raised. 

The shooting is currently under investigation by the Penticton RCMP with little details publicly shared.

One individual was arrested at the scene and then released pending further investigation the RCMP said.
