An out-of-control wildfire can be seen burning on the CN Rail tracks near Spences Bridge.
Locals discovered the fire Thursday night (July 4) burning one kilometre south of Spences Bridge at Arthur Seat. It is estimated to be 0.4 hectares in size and the cause of the blaze is currently unknown.
This is the second wildfire to occur in the area within the month. On May 24, the Drinkwater Road wildfire, which grew to 51 hectares in size, was reported to be burning five kilometres north of Spences Bridge — or on "the east side of the Thompson River above the CPKC mainline in an area of steep hillside and scattered trees."
Three BC Wildfire Service crews (BWS), one birddog, and two helicopters were on scene to contain the blaze. According to BWS, as of May 25, the fire is Being Held.
