West Kelowna’s mayor says 2024 was a big year for the city.

The new city hall and library building opened on June 29, bringing together city services, a public library, ICBC driver services, and offices for the local MP and MLA.

The Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant was opened on May 31. It uses advanced methods to ensure clean, safe drinking water and meets health standards. Council also approved steps to improve the quality of water entering the plant.

A new roundabout was built on Shannon Lake Road to help traffic flow, and a path was added to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists between Westbank First Nation and Swite Road.

Two new fire evacuation routes were built in the community. One between Casa Loma and Lakeview Heights, and another in Glenrosa. A new sidewalk was also added near Webber Road Elementary to improve pedestrian safety.

The city is now home to more than 40,000 residents.

A financial statement including the report shows the salaries and expenses of council.
