UPDATE: Trio of properties added to boil advisory for Vernon neighbourhood

Cameo Drive, Jade Road and Topaz Road residents under precautionary notice

UPDATE WEDNESDAY JULY 9, 5:09 P.M.: Due to the evolving nature of the break, three additional properties have been added to the existing Boil Water Notice (BWN). The properties added are 6689 and 6699 Cameo Drive, and 6703 Garnet Road (see map).

All properties originally listed in the BWN are still under a BWN until testing confirms the water is within normal operational parameters.

ORIGINAL STORY

Crews are repairing a water main break that has put more than 20 properties on a precautionary boil water notice.

In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has issued the advisory until sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe.

The area affected includes 6676-6684 Cameo Drive, 6641-6671 Jade Road, and 6595-6679 Topaz Road (see map).

The break has resulted in a loss of water pressure.

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.

The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, customers in the affected area should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when their brushing teeth.

When this notice is rescinded, it will be posted on the RDNO website and sent out to email subscribers.

A precautionary water quality advisory is also in effect for 849-899 Mt Bulman Place. The advisory, issued July 7, ends at 5 p.m. July 9.
