The Central and North Okanagan are under a sever thunderstorm watch on Saturday, June 14.

A threat of thunder and lightning is in the forecast for the Central and North Okanagan.

At 10:17 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Central and North Okanagan, as well as Kamloops, Salmon Arm and Ashcroft.

"Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain," stated the government weather agency.

In Kelowna and Vernon, there is a 60 per cent chance of showers this afternoon.

Right now, the South Okanagan, from Penticton down, is not under the watch.
