The City of Surrey has a series of family-friendly summer events in the works as part of its Focus Newton Action Plan aimed at "rejuvenating, beautifying and enhancing" Newton.
Included in this are free movie nights, concerts, community picnics, and pop-up games.
Mayor Brenda Locke is quoted in a City-issued press release that she's "proud to be launching these free community events, which highlight our commitment to bringing residents together and fostering pride in Newton.
She added the activities build on "significant investments" council has made toward Newton being "a thriving, vibrant area.
"Whether it’s the $7.5 million 148 Street road improvement project recently completed, or the $310.6 million Newton Community Centre in development, our focus remains on positive change and community-driven growth,” Locke said.
