The City of Armstrong has activated stage 2 water restrictions.

The restrictions came into effect at noon on Friday, May 2 and are necessary due to increased turbidity in Fortune Creek caused by spring run-off. This has prompted a temporary switch to the city's well water supply, the city said Friday.

Compliance with the restrictions is mandatory for all residents in the following areas:

• City of Armstrong

• Pleasant Valley Waterworks District

• Round Prairie Waterworks District

• Highland Park Waterworks District

• Stardell Waterworks District

• Silver Star Waterworks District

• Lansdowne Waterworks Districts

• Residents of Spallumcheen receiving City of Armstrong water

Addresses ending in 00-49 can water on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Addresses ending in 50-99 can water Mondays and Wednesdays. On designated days, manual irrigation is allowed between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m., and automated irrigation systems are permitted between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for a maximum of three hours.

Watering using a handheld container or hose with a shut-off nozzle is permitted at any time.

For more details, view the water restrictions handout on the city's website. More information can be found at cityofarmstrong.bc.ca/water-conservation/
