The Cawston Community Hall will once again play host to the annual Similkameen Seedy Saturday on March 15.
The annual seed exchange starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m., with admission by donation.
Partial proceeds from admission go to support Seeds of Diversity and the Canadian Seed Library. The4 library is a collection of over 2,300 regionally-adapted and rare seed varieties, including some from the Similkameen Valley.
In addition to the big seed swap table, there will be vendors from across the Similkameen and as far away as Westbank, free activities for kids and presentations from Victory Gardens for Bees and the Keremeos Inclusive Community Garden.
There will also be exhibitions from Seeds of Diversity, the Okanagan Similkameen Invasive Species Society, Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship, Okanagan Regional Library's Keremeos branch and its seed library, the Lower Similkameen Community Services Society and the Okanagan Seed Savers.
The event was started about 35 years ago by the head gardener at the time for the Keremeos Grist Mill and Gardens, Sharon Rempel.
The heritage site continues to organize the event each year, and the Seedy Saturday has spread to be held in communities across Canada.
